<Here is the data on a classic negative volume reversal. which indicates a failed rally.>

I am not a technical analysis kind of guy. Not sure what this means.

< notice the trading volume on jan 20 where AMD hits an inter day high and then closes beow the previous days close. then repeats the process the follwoing day. Again on higher than normal volume. The gusto is gone.>

Not sure what this means, either.

Re: Here is the data on a classic negative volume reversal...

Greg,

It was an options expiration day with more than 10% of the float short. This is not a classic anything.

See what happens next week.

Greg,

I disagree....all the drop to 37 did was move AMD back to its 13 day moving average. If you look at a daily chart for AMD.....it likes to hug its 13 day MA and always will return to it after a short time above it.

Further the trendline for the move up was not broken...not even close. I see this as a temporary regrouping before the move back up resumes.

Like I said in another post, there are not many if any tech companies with a P/E of 20 producing YOY rev growth north of 15%....under the circumstances AMD has no choice but to move up.
