I did a little more checking. I heard some analysts's have been whispering some very high target #'s, driving up the stock. No takeover. I think that article started the rumor, then was later used as a reference.

Best Regards,
John Stewart

Hi Clark,

As for NVLS being the buyer, I personally would be very surprised. MTSN now has significant CVD business (Novellus' bread and butter), and thus Mattson might not feel it was the best fit.

Hill of Novellus seems to be the most focused CEO of the sector when it comes to the bottom line. I recall his comments in several conference calls that he believes NVLS can be highly profitable as is. If NVLS were to make an acquisition, it would have to be accretive very soon thereafter. I don't know enough about Mattson and the forecasts for their business to determine whether they fall into that category. Do you have any ideas about what MTSN's gross and net margins might look like going forward? Ian?

This is a pretty cool thread. Just started reading it today. I followed the company several years ago, but got too sidetracked by the bigger companies in the sector. Brad Mattson is a brilliant guy. Wish I had kept up with developments in the company. It appears they are going to do very well, when only a year ago people were questioning whether small companies could survive in this sector. Congratulations to everyone who had the foresight to buy the stock.

Bob

OT
I don't see a need for Ian to tone down anything. If any 'newbie' decides not to post on this thread due to anything Ian said then it's their own fault/loss. Ian chooses to view information in his own context, that's obvious, and if he chooses to discount other's opinions well, so be it.

Good luck,
Michael

>>Ask Curly about the CYMI Yahoo boards where some very informative posters were scared off<<

I find Ian's comments to be knowledgeable, insightful and well considered. I doubt anyone of substance would be run off by anyone's comments. One thing you have to remember is that Ian has contributed so greatly to this thread that he has pretty much earned the right to say anything he feels like. I don't regularly follow the YAHOO board, but, when I visit I have found some pretty good research and quite a bit of noise.

Switching gears MTSN is performing very strongly here. I would have expected a gain consolidating pattern to have developed by now. It hasn't. That's pretty impressive.

Good Luck To Each And All

Curly
