if the thread can collectively come up with a new name and opening message, I'll make the change

On the flippant side, there's always the obvious thread names such as, "Here's My Opinion (Screw You)". Really, though, I am constantly amazed at the continual wealth of knowledge and opinion that is brought to this thread by just about all contributors.

Despite the many posts saying something like, "That's it. I can't stand it. I'm leaving!", this place is like an high-flying stock that just crashed. Despite the fact that people get hurt, they seem drawn back to it, with sensitized sensibilities maybe, but knowing that there is a lot of underlying value in it. Nobody wants to miss out on the next spike and people are willing to put up with a lot in the meantime.

So what is the value here? Very simply, it's the combined talents and opinions of all the people here. Value stocks one day, favorite cities the next, momos on another day, personality clashes swinging in and out, position plays providing the topic for another day...what an eclectic, wonderfully valuable mix.

After awhile, you get a real sense of how various individuals approach their investing because their full personalities play out on this thread. Sometimes you find something you agree with, most of the time you don't. Question is, why would anyone want to limit their choices and their chances? Most don't. For the same reason that everyone bookmarks the various threads, this one single thread provides a great cross section and a meeting of myriad investment philosophies and experiences.

Tempestuous? Yes. A waste? Hardly.

I'm not sure what kind of name is appropriate either but I hope one is found that can simply be bookmarked, one that doesn't detract from the value of the thread or limit the subject matter. We have a place here in Austin's entertainment district called "Joe's Generic Bar". Doesn't tell you much about what's offered but it does kind of draw you in once in awhile to see who's on stage. Always different but, then, you kind of expect it to be.

IMHO,
Buck

Since this thread has been abandoned by its originator>>>

LMAO...so now i'm known as the originator but when i was developing all these page click$ for si and countless people signing up to si so they could post to ME i was was then tim luke....

..........................................................

I'd like to point out that stock-picking ability shouldn't be the sole criterium for determining the value of a thread participant>>>>

yeah lets have people post their calls after the fact so the misguided think they know their sh*t...give me a break bob, it's not just this site but yhoo and raging bull also...full of bullshit artists .....enough of this thread and soap opera...

btw...i have more respect for jas cooper then two faced jane...at least jas pulled no punches and told how he felt to my face...two faced had to wait till i was gone..but she showed her "if she is even a her" true colors to everyone....it jumps from thread to thread saying the same crap..'this thread rocks"...LOL....oh my how stupid some people can be.

peace everyone and i will see many of you soon

Thread Name...

Personally this thread has been NRFTW, is NRFTW, and will always be NRFTW....the *wicked* tag is slick, telling and when uttered will always make one think of the early days and the originator of the thread....as the thread participants change the *title* can have new meaning, but for most, short, long or otherwise this *is* the wicked thread....and the subject matter can be whatever the wicked participants wish....or is *big brother* going to be watching and changing the direction that we want...whether Tim chooses to be here or not, and I think we can see he does not, we as participants feel comfortable when stopping by....because in times past, whether lurking or posting, this thread had a *soul* (okay a little corny) a "theme" if you will, and I for one like the little smile that pops on my face when I check for updated posts on the "NO REST FOR THE WICKED THREAD"........

I find it very interesting that you find the time to interupt this thread as opposed to responding to emails concerning proposed improvements for the entire site.
The only response I get are 'canned' 'thank you for your interest' messages.

Perhaps, this is just another example why I, and I'm sure many others, are seeking, and in some cases have found, other sites to replace SI.

Pertaining to your suggestion , try "What this thread is really about" and, as it comes from your unrequested interuption, you can take the credit.

To: SI Admin (Bob)....

I am very surprised, or actually I should say I am not that you left post #87586 on and did not delete it. When someone used that kind of language before, I remember you suspended him....now you leave that post on. hmmmmmmm

I got suspended for putting an alternate site I go to when SI is down....hmmmmmm

Something does not sound right here....
