>> In past five years I tried to get answer on fundamental question: Is it better to stick with appreciated investment or relocate with hope that somewhere else return will be higher? << I now have five 10-baggers in biotech. In each of them, I took profits off of the table as I went, ending up with only 100 shares when the joyous event came. Over time, I've pretty well chosen to reallocate. One can ask if I'm stupid, or if I just have a conservative bent and fear of heights that will serve me well some day. Thus far, the votes for stupid would appear to be the rational ones. That is, while I've been very effective at reallocation, I'd have done better to buy my favorites and go on vacation. Throw in my short-term trading, however, and I'm significantly ahead of buy and hold. So.... rellocation to new issues, not among my absolute faves, has not paid. Allocation to cash, for short-term trading in and among my faves, has paid. Tom, DAK..... certain that many participants here are joyous over the events that you relate. The feedback is cool. Two comments.... (1) When Miljenko is asked for an opinion, he gives a concise but highly technical response. When BJ is asked for an opinion, he gives a concise but highly technical response. On occasion, we ask Harry Tracy for his analysis, and we get a concise, highly technical response. Then I'm asked for my opinion. I read Miljenko, BJ and Harry, and -- replying "yeah, I think it's a good bargain" -- get credit for the pick. Pretty cool. (2) Back slapping is GOOD STUFF, and we deserve it. SI biotech freaks, collectively, are clearly damn good stock pickers. However, credit where credit is due..... deep, respectful bow to MLNM -- for Levin's "how to do it" impact on the sector as a whole -- in the east, and to Lyons et al. -- thread-specific, but masterful management in its own right -- in the south.
