PB, You are correct about the lack of RAMBUS fallback position. I will never cease to be amazed that Intel did not find out about the Rambust problem until the last minute. As the largest semi firm in the world it certainly had the resources to do this. That means that it chose not to or did not think of that or that the senior management was lied to by the Rambus team. These are all unattractive scenarios that lead me to think Intel is getting into some hardening of the arteries....common with bigoldcos. Then we had a bunch of premature product releases to attempt to counter the Athlon........dumb-dumb-dumb, since AMD could not supply the market at the outset Intel should have made it work and then released it all the while telling people to wait for it. That would have made AMD hold back on faster stuff as well. These premature releases forced people into the arms of AMD by showing the need for a fallback CPU supplier....AMD....and on they climbed. You cannot say "Intel has not yet begun to fight", you might better say, "Intel has forgotten how to fight" Bill
