"Cheapskates" bargain-hunting...horserace wagering...stock-market trading (always looking for the edge)---is there a
psychological drive behind those interests/pleasures in some
individuals? Or is it just a rarity that happens to pop up
coincidentally on this thread? Theories, anyone?

I looked for Medix, and couldn't find it. Where did you see it, and do you have a URL? Also, are you sure Our House charged you $2.95 for shipping? According to their Web site, the minimum charge is $4.95.
