I have a dish satellite system with the dish player and about 500 channels possible, though I only subscribe to 200 or so. The EPG is essential to find out what is on at what time, and is probably the most accessed feature. A great place to put ads and provide a portal to interactive TV. I also have WebTV, not because I really wanted it but it came with the player. I subscribed just to see what it was like. I was surprised at how well the web sites came across, the text is quite readable and the surfing is pretty easy. However, it is definitely a sub-par experience as compared with a PC browser. And there is not enough size/resolution available on the screen to provide both tv and web services with much quality. I don't think the interactive TV/internet experience will really come into its own until there is a price drop and wide adoption of HDTV with the large rectangular screens. That would allow a browser with full resolution to be open on one part of the screen and the tv program on another part.

I can't wait for the day when I can wake up in the middle of the night and not have to watch an infomercial or get up and go into my den to get online -- instead, laying in my comfy bed, watching a downloaded movie or reading a downloaded book on my PCTV, or 'going online' on my PCTV, etc., using my 'wireless remote-keyboard' (makes me tingle all over).

You're 'right on', Unc -- great post!

The LED flashlights are great. Everybody that sees mine is amazed by the brightness and tiny size. Too bad they don't use CREE LED (maybe next year) These make great gifts for someone who has almost everything. BTW, the cheapest source I've found is hosfelt.com.
