jbe: "helpinout" has converted this message board from your typical "go COMPAQ" "another 1/8th in price" mindless-cheerleading-kind-of-board, to a unique source of information about COMPAQ. There are many serious and knowledgeable lurkers who vist the site just for his posts. I happen to know that people at COMPAQ read it for the leads he gives to publications about COMPAQ and the industry. He spends hours refining his search technique and combing through hundreds of posts each week to post his selections. Every now and then an oaf comes by and makes the kind of remark you made.

OT*** jbe, your post is pure noise! Posting to oneself is just a way to post to the thread. When one's message is not a response to somebody in particular, why post it to that somebody?
Before blaming other people, start to learn the ethics of posting, the first unwritten rule being to start your post with by "OT" (Off Topic) when your subject has nothing to do with the thread subject (like yours and mine). Nuff said...

****OT****
If you had noticed the number of the reference post I use, it was
almost 30,000 thread posts ago, early when I joined S.I., and
unsure of proper protocol. It seemed logical to address ones self
so as not to show up in a members inbox as a message. Additionally,
it is difficult to not address myself even if I were to post
sequentially as most do here. If you would like, I can use your
message and name as I don't need the PR. I don't post here for me.
If you would be so kind as to how and what name you would like me
to use I may consider it.
