I don't know why Intel pays a dividend (small as it is). There might be some history to it that someone else knows. That kind of thing is hard to stop, IMO, once you start it. Doesn't look good, raises questions why you stopped it, and why you started it in the first place. None of the following pay any dividend: Microsoft, Sun Micro, Cisco, EMC. FWIW.

I sure don't want them to stop!!! If they cut the dividend it would be the end of the Dividend Reinvestment Plan which might make them also cut out the Direct Investment Plan!! This is the only way I can buy Intel shares with a few hundred dollars evey couple of months!! In five years my 'dripping' has accumulated 140 shares! Granted that's nowhere near what some on the thread have, and yes, I might have been better off to borrow the money at the start and then pay off the loan rather than 'dripping' - but - I like the security of using 'cash in hand' to invest for the long term.

In re: dividends, I appreciate that Intel does pay a dividend, albeit a very small one. You think they should stop?
