PB, re: "and the horse you rode in on." There are a number of ways to evaluate the performance of any business. Some prefer to look only at the "number," and others want to understand the reason for the "number." Since I understand you are an employee of Intel, I would guess you prefer the former. I, (and I think many on this thread), am interested in the performance of the core business, the Intel Architecture Business Group. While no one really questions Intel's many strengths, it's the core business that is the foundation for these strengths.
The fact there was zero Q4 YOY growth in revenues and income for this key business segment raises flags for some of us. Understanding the reasons for zero growth not only provides some insight into Intel, but to the health of the entire PC industry. (BTW, perhaps you forgot to add the <g> to your comment?) At any rate, please try to understand there is some objectivity in the bear analysis.
