I have enjoyed reading your two related posts. Everything is connected to everything else. The theory behind this is likely to be GOD. However, GOD is not controlable and thus, I am not sure that HE/SHE or whatever the POWER BEHIND AND WITHIN everything can be made into a "profit center". We will likely learn to get into the flow of the power substaining the universe i.e. not to fight life but to be a part of the oneness of it. Much of organized religion misses this. I for one think Jesus Christ understood the meaning of life.

Perhaps the internet will be a part of our discovery of the interconnectness of all of life. The use of light in fiber optic research is fasinating. Biotech research will also be a part of our discovery of what life is made up of.

The internet functions similar to the universe, breaking out distance and time. This is cause for great hope among mankind but could also result in our excluding the Highest Power if we think we are the creator. We are discovering and using what IS.

Sorry for this weird sermon. I am still trying to wake up with Diet Coke.

Interesting sketch on the history of science.

When Isaac Newton published the Principia in 1683, a Scientist in Germany named Leibnitz immediately attacked him...

The famous arguments between Newton and Leibnitz over the formulation and principles of gravity led to the development of calculus, and was an early day version of the importance of user friendliness in technology. Newton was first to develop the priniciple of differentials to calculate tangents to curves, using esoteric language and notation, but it was Leibnitz who gave us a practical way of doing the calculations with his still familiar d/dx operator notation.

Do you want to invest in Gravity Drive?

Are you aware of E. E. Podkletnov's claims?

Bill,

There are few posts I've enjoyed as much as your two-part discussion of the ongoing revolution. After reading your posts, I realize that what I used to think of as the big picture would fit in a match box. Keep workin' on me and you'll prevail in making a true visionary out of me some day.

Lindy,
I am fascinated by the possibilities you describe. Think about Quantum Mechanics and the discovery that sub-atomic particles can be in more than one place at the same time.

On to Andromeda?!! Hell, we are already there; we just don't know it.

Lindy:

2) The Physics departments and the Physicists at our major institutions are going at it the wrong way. They are increasing the complexity of; rather than simplifying; the problem.

Curious what you mean by this. Who is increasing complexity? What specifically do you mean? How could they simplify the problem, concretely? Do you think some of the recent discoveries about the universe, possible truth of E's cosmological constant, the shape of the universe, time's arrow, whether universe is exapnding, black holes, neutrinos, etc, have hindered rather than helped our understanding of how the universe formed and how it functions? Are the Nobel prize winning minds like Weinberg and Murray Gell-Mann and others so dumb they can't do better?

3) The answer is right under our noses, and could have been found at any time since basic electrical theory was understood. The key observation that led to the discovery of how to use electricity was the observation of a magnet moving when it was near an electrical field. I suspect that the discovery of how to use gravity, and what it is, will come out of a similar observation.

What exactly do you mean? If it could have been found at any time, and you are certain of that, perhaps you could contact some of the cosmologists and physicists and let them know? What exactly do you think they are missing about magnetic and electrical fields that will solve the problem for them? What is the similar observation? What do you actually mean by that, in concrete terms, in terms of actual theory and function?

Jill

OTgravity, he could not explain what it was,
I think Einstein's explanation may hold. Gravity is not a force, it is the shape of the universe.

LindyBill,

Thanks for the very stimulating exercise and for the thoughtful responses by others. This will inevitably come to pass but is it the only road to such an understanding? Perhaps such things were known and expressed by Mother Teresa.

Given your expressed interest, I strongly recommend

amazon.com

This excellent book gives a superb overview of the state of current research. We are closer than many think to finally uniting quantum mechanics and gravity, and thereby gaining a much deeper insight into our P-brane (not P-brain <g>) universe.
