could be they didn't make changes this month due to y2k shutdown?

Could be.
It is possible that they made a lot of changes in December ahead of Y2K. However, they generally drop a company just when it is being taken over by another S and P 500 company. I think we just don't have such deals closing in the early part of the year.
Of course, they can decide to drop a company and add another.
Who knows we could get in this week.

BTW--I did not want to discuss the S and P thing but i can't help it. It is making trading in JDSU impossible (my trading shares) as i don't want to be out of it at the close of the market. All i can do is trade it intraday and hold a position at the close. That strategy is risky so i just hold it. There are great trading opportunities elsewhere.
