The CEO of RCN was just interviewed on CNN!

Gee, I think there's a little alliteration in that sentence. <g>

I believe the program was called "Business Unusual," with Peter Viles. He did a terrific interview with David McCourt (the guy I quoted in my last post) talking about their "broadband" strategy and plans. Perhaps it was a repeat broadcast, but I hadn't seen it before.

McCourt had some interesting comments like, "The development of broadband will be the equivalent of the development of electricity, integrating TV, the Internet, and telephony." And also saying that, "Others just won't be able to avoid the obvious for long." He also made an interesting comment stating, "Both DSL and Cable currently rely on out-of-date infrastructures." In the interview they mentioned Paul Allen's 1.65 billion investment in his RCN last year, but I didn't hear them mention the "Broadband Partners" or Go2Net. Oh well. However every little bit of exposure for the "partners" can't hurt.

Somewhere recently I read that only about 10% of businesses currently have a presence on the Web, but that is expected to increase to about 60% in the next 3-4 years. Those that don't have a Web presence will be at a competitive disadvantage. Heck, I guess I better get a website for my own business soon (unless GNET goes up enough, so I can retire REALLY early). <g>

NotHim, thanks to the "link" to the REAL Victor Neiderhoffer's book, "The Education of a Speculator." Are you REALLY sure you didn't write that book? Did you notice the people listed as having read the book at Amazon? Ironically one was George Soros. Could he be the same guy quoted in my last post (along with Paul Allen) being a major investor in Transmeta. Is that irony, or what? George had two books listed that he had written, "The Alchemy of Finance: Reading the Mind of the Market," and "Soros on Soros: Stay Ahead of the Curve." Gee it's getting to be a very small world, isn't it?

Carolyn, KLP, and levy thank you for the kind comments. And levy, my wife thanks you also! Being named the "Levy Poster of the Month"! Heck, that really "made my day." It just doesn't get any better than that! <ggg>

I think Victor Niederhoffer would have made a great GNET long...so if you are not Victor then who are you "mine-NOTn"?

Top-performing futures fund manager Victor Niederhoffer is no ordinary Wall Street guru. He never wears shoes in the office, reads no periodicals but the National Enquirer, and draws upon art and music--along with board games and horse racing--for long-term inspiration and ongoing motivation.

NN,

I think we're all interested in this Crusoe chip from Transmeta and it could certainly create a stir.

But I was pondering some of the negatives this weekend, and the biggest one I could think of is the susceptibility to hacker attacks against the the hardware emulation software the chip uses.

Having a virus in your application software is substantially different than having one that works at machine code level.

NotN do you still own Go2Net?

Do you have any source for information that actually tells us some substance about these deals that go2net is making with xpertsite.com and this internet hard drive company...I hate when they just say they made some deal but tell you nothing about its financial arrangement.

NOTNyougottoget3Dsportsillustrated.......

I think Go2Net web ads should be like that in 3D
