Hello hmaly,

Re: "What a gutsy move by AMD's management. Do the one thing no one expects; lower prices and make big bucks' and we the consumers will all win."

AMD is gutsy! Perhaps all should have expected lower prices leading to higher volume. From CEO Jerry Sanders July 29, 1998 Speech "Competing with an 800-Pound Gorilla" amd.com

..."In other words, if we can offer sufficiently desirable products and produce and sell them in volume, our customers will have little interest in embracing a hardware solution that once again makes them dependent upon a monopoly."

From CrazyMan: I also find the following quote from the same speech interesting, does it remind you of AMD's current management style?

"Success comes from unleashing good ideas from many sources, and building upon the best of the best.

The authors of The Gorilla Game sounded a similar note in the final chapter of their book. They observed that "... the core of wealth creation is not a set of financial instruments but rather a vast network of teams, each working to bring some new value chain into existence, to ramp it up to global market capability, to bring the next generation of products and services to customers and consumers."

AMD's plan is to be the nucleating point for an alternative to an Intel monopoly."

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
