Yo_Prophet................

Re: RAMBU$ vs. HITACHI

Thank you for your very clear and concise appraisal of the situation - it was refreshing to have your "reasonable and prudent" observation.

Re:...though you should anticipate an anti-RMBS propaganda effort by them (and the anti-RMBS chorus) in the short run. Those who were around for the QCOM/ERICY battle will recall exactly what I'm talking about.

WHAMMO!!

Salude - Norman.

Several questions?

Can someone tell me why they are concerned over whether to buy at 75 or wait until RMBS drops to the the 60s as some seem to think it might?

It seems to me there is at least a reasonable chance of a settlement that could occur at any time, possibly doubling the stock overnight (more if SDRAM is is deemed to violate the patent).

I would really like to to hear from someone with a big short position on this stock because it seems to me they are looking backwards into a deep deep CHASM. What is the other side of the story. There must be one or this stock would already be at 200.

Finally, I note that samsung is in "Mass Production" of RDRAM as per www.usa.samsungsemi.com/products/browse/rambuscomp.html
but I do not know exactly what "mass production" means,
or how fast anyone else is ramping up. Does anyone have the answers to these questions? How many RAMBUS units total are being produced every day and what % of the DRAM memory is this?

One more thought. Why Shouldn't Intel just buy Rambus at this point (for say $20B), declare RDRAM the "standard" while forcing the AMD monkey to spend some time adopting, and to give the teradyne chimp something good to think about. I believe Intel would win under this scenario regardless of patent infringement. The memory makers would not like it but who cares? If they would not ramp up fast enough, Intel always could.

Finally, I am new to this game ... what is SOX?
Also I can neither cut not paste into replies. I had to freehand type the above link. WHY?

Prophet, there is one hidden risk to RMBS in the litigation if they lose, the risk that the basic patents will be found invalid, then there might be a possibility they do not get royalties even on the RDRAM chips, or at least much smaller royalties than expected.

Without reading these patents in detail, I am in no position to determine how big this risk is.
