Since when is it smart to time the market? An investor's chances of beating the stock market drops once he/she drops below 100% invested. Certainly there are some who time and beat the market over a lifetime, but we don't hear about them much I guess. As always, I hope you are right (and I realize it doesn't matter much if you are not) -- I'm confident my long term holdings will do fine over that (long-term) timeframe.

will, he/she's exactly right. he/she doesn't get paid if he puts his clients in cash and keeps them there. his paycheck is of the utmost importance, not investing.
