NEM share price fall in the past few days and now news is out.

Investor confidence in Indonesia has been further rattled by news that American gold company Newmont Mining has been ordered to temporarily close its huge Minahasa goldmine in North Sulawesi.

A district court in North Sulawesi has issued an injunction to suspend the operations while a dispute over taxes imposed on soil overburden at the mine is resolved.

Newmont's president, Mr Rick Ness, was quoted in the Jakarta Post newspaper as saying the "decision is clearly without legal basis, erodes the rule of the law and will constitute another blow to international confidence in Indonesia".
