I'll think about this chicken and egg thing. I see the scenario differently than you and others, but its an academic exercise that may have some bearing on future picks.

If its CDMA that is the tornado, then I suppose CDMA is the disruptive technology in the wireless industry. When Q and Ericson were still duking it out for IPR, the CDMA tornado was already blowing, with these two potential kings/gorillas competing. The Ericson capitulation gave QCOM gorilla status. Both companies were across the chasm already.
