Actually a very uplifting passage. No one endured adversity like Christ, so surely we can handle anything. Christ shed his blood to atone for our sins so that by accepting him we could have everlasting life. Salvation by faith. People's hearts become hard and unwilling to believe the longer we live life as unbelievers. Accept it as a compliment that Christ is in our lives and loves us enough to discipline us when we fail to do his will since his way is designed to make us the happiest.

Dan, I understand discipline. I received an ample portion of it from my worldly father, and still, on occasion, get a dose of it from the Heavenly Father. It would be nice to be at peace with all men but, when confronted with undisciplined, unprincipled, people, it is very difficult to ignore them, and I have never, and may never, be any good at turning the other cheek.
