Selling far out-of-the-money calls don't help you protect your downside because the premiums are very small that far out. As well, you additionally limit your upside. A good mo-mo stock will blow through these strikes! It's not the correct approach, as you've mentioned. The call buyers are laughing at the call writers for JDSU! The puts writers are laughing at the puts buyers, too. Steve
