There used to be several e-mail programs that would access AOL's proprietary e-mail system. As far as I was able to find out the last time I looked (about four months back) none of these programs are still available and none of the current standalone e-mail programs (including the various flavors of Eudora) could do AOL. This is quite annoying to me, since I have both an AOL account and another through my office's ISP (and for some reason my boss does not think it appropriate for me to log onto AOL several times a day to check my non-business e-mail. (He does let me log onto SI to check out the QCOM stock price, since he bought some a while back on my recommendation.)

Obviously, this does not mean that you cannot send e-mail to an AOL account or receive e-mail from an AOL account.
