John - <Just curious, PB - do you think AMD made the right decision dropping IBM and switching to MOT's Cu process? I saw 400 MHz at the end of that IBM article, that doesn't sound like doubling frequency to me.>

I have no input on that. I don't know which process would be better suited to AMD.

Also, it was pointed out this guy gushing about "double frequency" is an analyst, and may ot may not be associated with IBM.

Let me clarify something with my remarks regarding IBM hyping...I consider MOT just as guilty wrt Cu. They just happened to be a few weeks later with their announcement than IBM. In fact, MOT is probably responsible for making this whole Cu thing a "race" to begin with, since it takes two.

That said, please no more shots on the subject. I really don't care if IBM, MOT, AMD, or The People's Republic of China go to Cu at .18 or not. I only object to the perception that other companies that chose to go with perfectly viable Al processes at .18 are now considered some how behind.
