G.M., RE: Niles / Merrill will not stand for this news ... expect DELL warnings again Monday a.m.

Wow, that is prescient.

This was in my email this morning when I got to work. It went out about 2 AM this morning, from Niles.

"We believe that Dell is on track to report q/q revenue growth of 3-4% versus expectations of 7-8%. This tranlates into approximately $7.0B in revenues versus the $7.3B forecast and probably 19-20 cents in EPS versus the 21 cent consensus. We believe that though ASPs in the quarter should be down only 1-2% versus our down 4% forecast that units are likely to be up only in the low 50s y/y versus our 66% forecast....

"...Though we believe Dell can outperform the Nasdaq in 2000 after a poor 1999, we believe that this can only happen after expectations have been reset to more reasonable levels. We believe downside on the stock is to the high $30s. We remain on the sidelines until then."

The propaganda wars continue! It would be funny if it did not cost money (at least on paper)!
