Transmeta to Seek Taiwan Partners for New Processor, CT Says Taipei, Jan. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Executives of Transmeta, a closely held U.S. semiconductor designer that has developed low- cost microprocessors poised to challenge Intel Corp., will visit Taiwan this week to foster possible cooperation with the island's electronic companies, the Commercial Times reported, citing unidentified industry people. Those executives will also visit companies in Singapore and South Korea. Taiwan's Via Technologies Inc., a computer chipset maker, might be able to help Transmeta to integrate local companies to support its new chips, the paper reported. Intel Corp. filed a complaint last week to U.S. trade regulators against Taiwan's Via Technologies for patent infringement.
