NEW YORK (Reuters) - Level 3 Communications Inc. (LVLT.O)
said on Monday it planned to spend $3.5 billion in capital
expenses in 2000 and $2.5 billion in 2001 as the company
builds out its fiber-optic networks around the world.

The company also said in a statement it expected revenues
from its telecommunications sectors to reach $750 million in
2000, and $1.7 billion in 2001.

Level 3 is building a high-speed network that connects cities in the United States and a similar network in Europe. It is also developing facilities in Hong Kong and Tokyo, and plans to build an undersea cable system linking those areas.

Shares of Level 3 closed at 110-1/2 on Friday on the Nasdaq
stock market, just below its year high of 111."
