E*Trade has been horrible for me. I am transferring my account to American Express Online Brokerage. E*Trade
promised $19.95 for each $3,000 transferred from another brokerage firm. The transfer form said the deal
excluded IRA's and other retirement accounts. Before I filled out the form, I called E*Trade to discuss the
particulars of the deal and I was assured I would receive the cash within three months of the transfer. Three months
following transfer of the cash nothing had been credited to my account. I then continually asked for a followup of
why the money was not in my account yet. After multiple inquiries with no return calls, E*Trade now finally calls
and says a family limited partnership is excluded from the deal. And that's final they say. They even admit that the
transfer form did not say that anything other than IRA's and other retirement accounts would be excluded. Very
pathetic. The problem for them is that I get asked at least twice a week by other professionals which brokerage
firm do I recommend. Guess who is at the bottom of the list now? E*Trade
