Announces an Agreement for NUOVINOX Rebar for The State of Oklahoma Department of Transportation - 154,000 Pounds of NUOVINOX Rebar to Be Used in the Chickaskia Bridge Deck On Interstate I-35 - DALLAS, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- STELAX Industries, Ltd. (OTC Bulletin Board: STAX) announces it has received an agreement for 154,000 pounds of NUOVINOX Reinforcing bar (Rebar) for the State of Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The rebar will be used as a non-corrosive solution in the Chickaskia bridge deck on Interstate I-35, located in Kay County. The bridge is scheduled for letting in February 2001. NUOVINOX is carbon steel that is cladded with stainless steel and is priced substantially lower than solid stainless steel. Walt Peters, Oklahoma Department of Transportation said, "Our goal is to build a bridge that will last 75 to 100 years and be maintenance free. We expect NUOVINOX to provide that kind of longevity outperforming the epoxy coated rebar we are currently using." Nino Cacace, Managing Director of STELAX Industries, Ltd., said, "Oklahoma's DOT had a stated goal to build a bridge that would last 75 to 100 years and be maintenance free. After extensive research and testing, NUOVINOX once again proved to be the economical solution to corrosion protection for roads and bridges." Harmon Hardy, Chairman and CEO of STELAX Industries, Ltd., said, "We are extremely pleased with this commitment from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. STELAX now has eleven states who have selected NUOVINOX dowels and/or rebar. They include Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Maine, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and now Oklahoma. Other organizations, which have selected NUOVINOX, include the New York City DOT and the New York State Thruway Authority. NUOVINOX is well on its way to becoming the standard for long life, non-corrosive rebar in concrete construction. It is gratifying to see the demand for NUOVINOX increasing so dramatically." Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, STELAX Industries' main activity is a specialized steel mill located in South Wales (United Kingdom). In addition to production of specialized steel products, it manufactures and markets a patented stainless steel alternative known as NUOVINOX.
