Brocade, Optical to cooperate on storage networks SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 1 (Reuters) - Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:BRCD - news) said on Tuesday it had formed a strategic relationship with Optical Networks Inc. to connect computer storage networks. The companies said they would integrate their management software platforms and make certain their products work together. Brocade provides switches for computer storage systems that pipe data over high-speed office networks. Optical Networks offers several new classes of data storage services that upgrade storage capacity without adding equipment. Shares of Brocade were up 1-1/4 at 163-1/4 in trade on the Nasdaq stock market. ``The relationship with Optical Networks will help simplify storage area network deployment issues as our customers expand their networks,' said Peter Tarrant, Brocade vice president of marketing and business development, in a statement. The initial phase of software integration is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2000, Brocade said. biz.yahoo.com
