It is pretty quiet here today. Douglas, what are the chances that the Ancor IB switch chip could make it into Cell Phone PCs and internet appliances in the home(coffee machines, refrigerators, etc) & in the factories(robotics, controls), that connect to the network?

Thanks,
Joe

IB Switch Competitors

Ancor may have gotten the nod from Intel, but there are others working on a switch also.

Agilent is very active in developing HCAs & TCAs for IB and recently initiated a design effort for IB Switches.

Mellanox Technologies is a March 1999 start-up, a fabless semiconductor company, and they are developing TCAs and an IB Switch:

Seagull Semiconductor is a fabless VLSI semiconductor company, established in June 1998, which has developed a 0.18micron copper High Performance Superscalar RISC Processor. They are developing an IBCore product to base a family of HCAs, TCAs, and an IB Switch, on.

Competition is good, yes?
