USA Today -- Brokerage accused of manipulating stock prices

This was back in 1995. I wonder how much of this sort of thing still goes on today?

Morgan Stanley censured, fined

WASHINGTON -- A self-regulatory brokers' group Monday censured and
fined major brokerage firm Morgan Stanley $495,000 for allegedly
manipulating the prices of nine stocks that are part of the Nasdaq 100
index. The New York-based company, now Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, said
it was considering appealing the ruling to the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission. The National Association of Securities Dealers, which
announced the move, said its National Adjudicatory Council had found that
six Morgan Stanley traders manipulated the stock prices in 1995. The NASD
said that prior to the Nasdaq market openings on March 17 and Oct. 20,
1995, traders of over-the-counter stocks at Morgan Stanley ''improperly
and fraudulently'' raised the prices they quoted for the nine stocks. The
traders' actions artificially pushed up the opening prices and the market for
the stocks, the NASD alleged.

My problem is if to many like yourself go bearish, then we WON'T have a major sell-off.

I am trying to buy calls today for what I expect to be the last hurrah???
