Jim,<<<Actually, football does take a lot of skill, otherwise every big fat bald guy could win a super bowl.>>>

I suppose that really depends on your definition of skill. For me, when you consider a foot team has an offense, defense, and a special team unit (let's for arugent sake say that's 36 positions), I would consider 5 of those guys need skills like passing and catching a football.

Guys whose man functions are to block or rush a quarterback or drag the guy with the football down to the ground does not possess any skill set. Sure the guy who blocks for an NFL team does that better than anyone else in the world - and very few people can do it at that level. But what is the skill?

Not everyone can rope a calf and tie it up like those cowboys at a professional rodeo - but at least that is a skill (of some kind). But a very quick, heavy and strong individual that can stand there and prevent some one else from getting past him - and when he does it in the NFL - very few people can do it better.

But what kind of skill is that?

I suppose that is all in the definition.

Mary

"otherwise every big fat bald guy could win a super bowl"

vs? every skinny hairy short guy?, That's a very strange description you made there. Linemen in general? or who are you describing?
