I think the interesting twist on this is going to be recompiling the solaris kernel. I'm playing with Caldera OpenLinux and am struck by how much it's like Solaris. With SMP and KDE OpenLinux is every bit as slow as x86 Solaris with SMP and CDE (on my machine anyway). I noted how Caldera gives you the option to recompile for single processor mode. That would be cool if Solaris could do that.

I've got a partition all ready for Solaris 8. I'm looking forward to being able to run Solaris and Linux together on the same HD. I think Solaris is the better browser platform because of Motif being included. I'm looking forward to doing the science.
