"Personal Opinion: MTSN is in a cyclical industry. Tax strategy should be secondary to getting out at the right time." I agree. Whenever this industry turns down, it's ugly. There is only 1 strategy that can be of used, with some level of risk. If you are looking at later in the year, deep in the money covered calls can be sold for Jan of the next year, thus offsetting gains in that year or breaking up when you take the gain (selling 1/2 now, 1/2 next year via calls). This can also be used if you are not yet at the capital gain threshhold but will be via the calls. Typically, you could get an extra 10% via the premium also. These are opinions, check with your tax advisor.
