re: ANC (phnpi)

I don't think the news is that big, but who can tell these days. I think the last spike was in large part because the Seibel release represented a known market share and had an eFoo/Internet spin. The new release says:

1. Beta version 3.0 of their flagship product will be
available 31 Jan.
2. Support for Sun Solaris (a Unix variation)

Beta -- hmmm, when will it mean sales? Solaris --- hmmm, not exactly a growth product these days, but there is a sizeable base of blue chip companies. (It's what SI uses. -gg-)

Buried in the release is the comment that the Solaris work is expected to be used internally to support ports to other UNIX and LINUX environments if, as and when meaningful commercial opportunities for those platforms develop.

After the Siebel release I said I liked ANC's products, although their Microsoft and NT focus is out of vogue these days. The Linux thing is being exploited by some, but it's real. In a report last spring International Data Corp predicted:

Through 2003, total Linux commercial shipments will grow faster than the total shipments of all other International Data Corporation (IDC) covered client or server operating environments.

That's lots o' shipments and lots o' demand for new solutions.

A reason to short the stock from the release: NT and Windows 2000 are great platforms and we support them both. -gg-

Sorry about the length -- got away from me.
Still an ANC fan who'll be watching it at the open... --Allan
