LVLT has trans-Atlantic cables, and will have a trans-Pacific cable. You're right to say that this type of cable could propel a company to king-status, but there is competition. However, TYCO's declaration that they're not going to lay undersea cable for other companies any more does act as a barrier to entry. Yet, in the end, I think TYCO better start laying cable again for others, lest they be out-flanked and replaced as a contractor by competitors with deeper pockets.

It was suggested on this thread that GBLX could be a king, but I agree with you. Their market penetration will never be high enough to reach that level. STRONG PRINCE, IMHO.

A king if merged with Qwest/KPN or LVLT.
