The 'chance' that I spoke of regarding Microsoft and Fonix is perhaps becoming more of a reality, IMO... Thanks, 'ironfurnace', for pointing us in the right direction:ragingbull.com <<<Of special interest here, in addition to MSFT giving fonix a plug, is the third reference which lists fonix as a developer with Articulate. Articulate was an ASR application which fonix bought from Dragon then supercharged with their neural net technology up front and the MACOM technology on the rear end ( personal coresspndence with Dr. John Oberteuffer, fonix vp for technology and the editor of ASRNews ). Articulate was the best in the vertical dictation application market and was being marketed by some group whose name escapes me. This group was soon bought out by Medquist who had a deal with LHSP. Well, this left fonix in the position of having to market this themselves. They did this with some success, of particular interest is that some hospitals which had bought LHSP ystems, junked them in favor of the fonix/Articulate system. This is all presented on the yahoo lhsp board some time ago. Well, fonix couldn't afford to market this system and was in a cash crunch, and LHSP was shitting intheir pants about Articualte/fonix beating them out of medical dictation markets, so last fall LSP bought Articulate from fonix. Interesting that Medquist has now filed suit against LHSP in the medical dictation field. Now, why is this so interesting? It shows that the fonix technology does exist, is better than anything else out there, and get this, that whatever ASR engine is in use, it will work better with fonix neural net technology on the fron end and the MACOM technology on the rear end. This is what we saw with the Dragon Articulate and later with LHSP. Remember, the race isn't always to the swiftest, and that is what the bet on fonix today is predicated upon, that these bozo guys running this company, and managing their finances, are finally going to pull this baby off based upon their technology finally getting to the point in time when it is applicable, when MHZ clock speed is fast enough, when menory is adequate, when embedded SOC, system on a chip is developed enough, and then the sky will be the limit.>>> search.microsoft.com 1.ÿ 60%ÿMicrosoft Launches Embedded Tools Partner Program http:// www.microsoft.com / PressPass / press / 1999 / Oct99 / SummitPR.htm Summary:ÿExpands Range of Development Tools for Windows NT Embedded, Windows CE and Windows-Powered Smart Cards Category = CorpInfo ÿÿÿÿSite = PressPass Submit your search to the PressPass site. 2.ÿ 46%ÿMicrosoft Embedded Systems http:// www.microsoft.com / Embedded / etp / vendorlist.asp Summary:ÿMicrosoft Embedded Systems Category = Partnering ÿÿÿÿSite = Embedded Submit your search to the Embedded site. 3.ÿ 17%ÿMicrosoft PressPass - Health-Care Software Vendors Prepare to Ship Applications On Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 http:// www.microsoft.com / PressPass / press / 1999 / Feb99 / SQLhealthPR.htm Summary:ÿMEDITECH, IDX Systems Corp. and Shared Medical Systems Among Vendors That Have Developed More Than 45 Health-Care Applications on Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Category = CorpInfo ÿÿÿÿSite = PressPass Submit your search to the PressPass site.
