I've seen quite a few exceptional performances but always wonder "will they ever sell? or will they ride 'em up and ride 'em back down?"

A very good question Lee. I've always wondered about the pros and cons of long term holdings gains. I've had AMAT for about 5 years now and LRCX for 3+... sizable gains in both over the years, but looking at their charts and the wild gyrations they've both made thru the years, I wonder if I wouldn't have tripled my gains with only a 50% market timing hit rate...

A very good example for me today is RIMM which closed about 1/2 point from where I bought it this AM... if I held, that's where I'd be... + 1/2, but being familiar with ST tops and ST price reversals I took a "wild guess" and came away + 7 3/4. I'm sure RIMM doesn't qualify as a LT hold for most but I know some people that are steadfastly enamored by it and hold it thru thick and thin. Taxation of course is a burden we all have to bear... :))

Cheerio to Dr Kronkite,
