OT Diamond, I don't think Sherman touched Alabama (my homestate, as well), but the Northern Incursion was devastating none the less. In fact, my Grandparents didn't even know the depression came. They couldn't tell any difference. When you are dirt poor, economic depressions don't matter. The depression was something that, to them, happened in New York. God bless FDR and JFK for the things they did for the Tennessee Valley (TVA, NASA).
