Milo RE: "Major PC vendors have complained about shortages of the Slot 1 processors, and according to one, the move to FC-PGA is coming far sooner than they want. Many are approving Slot One to 370 convertors in a frantic attempt to keep ahead of the game. © "

I think Intel is pushing hard to move to socket PIIIs ASAP in an effort to lower costs faster and to be able to be more agressive in pricing.

AMD is probably taking orders on Thunderbirds now so Intel needs to move aggressively to not have a cost disadvantage against ThunderBird in Q2. A product with cost and performance disadvantage is a marketing nightmare.

Milo, And now we have a flip chip delay. Intel does it again. Give a timetable and the OEMs dutifully get mobos laid out and ramp down the old ones and blammo....Intel blows them out of the water.
Well we will soon see a sea of Slot 1 parts for AMD to uise in their mobos dirt cheap.
