land lubber this size of a trade appears to be an institutional trade and not retail! a big brokerage firm could be trading for itself or a hedge fund or some one else.

Lubber, I believe that the norm for margin on naked puts is 25-to-30% of the stock price, less the amount by which the put is out of the money. A bare minimum is $5.00 if this formula falls below $5.00.

I refrain from asking my broker, for fear of kicking a sleeping dog. My broker typically pays little-to-no attention to margin until the last week of the expiration cycle.
