Tony Re. <What makes you think your New World dictionary is the be all and end all. I remember gas price wars among Exxon, Mobil, Texaco, etc., when none of them really expected any of the others to go out of business, but they were still called that. The term price war has been used WRT predatory, if you will, pricing between AMD and Intel many times before, regardless of which company started it.

Do you have a need to tag the evil empire twin (Intel) only with the term? >

Tony; if you have a different brand of dictionary with a different definition please put it up and we can use that. Or call New World and tell them that their definition is wrong and have them change it. I'm sure they will change it for a man of your renown. Until then either supply a different definition according to a official source; Webster's, Gottier etc. or use the definition supplied.
Secondly, according to the definition Intel, did engage in a price war, Amd right now is not engaging in a price war according to the definition of a "price war"; unless of course Intel goes broke shortly, in which case I will apologise to Elmer.
