I recently took over my Mother's funds since she had a sever stroke and found that the broker she had her money with for 15 yrs had given her very poor service. I put the initial investment to a spread sheet and found that the return over the 15 yrs equated to compounding of 3.45%. This guy made more money off of it then she did especially when considering that capital gains have to be paid. If you have an older parent make sure they are not getting ripped off.
