Paul,

<You know that AMD was desperate in having to JACK UP the voltage of the AthWIPEY just to get too 800 MHz.>

Why this bother you so much? Intel had to do this to get to 733. Why does that not bother you?

<Their process has hit a brick wall - and rather than fine tune their process, they JUICE UP the power supply.>

From all indications 0.18 at Fab25 is moving along fine. Just look at the availability on the 800s and the ever improving product launches with 850 launch within weeks from now.

Also, if you think AMD will push Fab25 as much as Intel is pushing its process then think again. Very soon Fab25 will not be the main fab for high-end products.

<Clearly, AMD is going to make sever compromises to get to 1 GHz.>

Man, you are living in a different world. Fab25 is already yielding at 1G and Dresden has put AMD well past 1G. Dresden is where most (if not all) of the future microprocessor cores will come from.

<And POWER CONSUMPTION will go way higher than the 48 watts now burned by the 800 MHz AthWipey.>

So what? You should be glad that lets Intel have a little bit of breathing room in the mobile space.

Chuck
