James,

Pairgain better keep an eye on Nortel/Promatory for the MCI contract. This is starting to remind me of how Alcatel won the Bell Atlantic DSLAM/DLC contract, they purchased DSC.

www.DSLprime.com expects Nortel to win a billion dollar contract with Promatory playing a key role in that win. Nortel can bundle their optical and ATM equipment with the Promatory equipment and produce a billion dollar win. Let hope it's not MCI...

1) MCI has been testing Nortel's optical equipment: biz.yahoo.com

2) Pairgain felt it was important to compare Avidia against Lucent and Promatory: pairgain.com

Promatory had a press release stating Pairgain's comparison was incorrect... NEBS-3 comes to mind.

3) DSLprime expect.. "Other massive contracts in the works include MCI, AT&T and KPN/Qwest."

I believe the stock price is depressed because of poor 4Q99 results. They we fined by the SEC for a few million, they had to cancel a joint development agreemment because they sold the ME unit which cost them $$$, they started to move the HDSL business to Mexico, they will have higher marketing expenses for Avidia and HDSL2 as this ramps begins, continued pricing pressure in the HDSL business, etc...

I question why managment didn't move this HDSL business to Mexico in Jan 99.
