Bill,

I'd like to add one thing to your list (actually expounding on point #5)

This thread breeds crisp, concise thinking which translates into better posts and a higher quality of information. One word responses or flippant opinions are not tolerated because of this higher standard. (it's also why we need the curmudgeon thread)

It forces everyone to work and think before posting, check through their thought processes and responses..(ie .. Will this be additive to the thread?..Will this enhance this discussion etc etc)

Does this in turn breed some familiarity? sure
Is it tough to "break in"? sure

But the results seem to be worth it.

>>Yeah, you had better "know your onions" when you show up here. We will treat
you with civility, but we do not suffer fools gladly!

6) I have used the "plural" in answering your posts. There are probably some
"Knights" on this thread who do not agree with me.

Gosh, that would be a surprise! :0)<<

Wow Lindy! Thanks for the civility! If someone wants to call me a fool, the royal "we" certainly puts it all in perspective...

LINDT + LoF:

Lindy, you said it very well. Since Betty doesn't expect to change our opinions, we probably shouldn't expect to change hers.

As to welcoming newbies, I feel we do an outstanding job. We have had, as I can recall, only two really difficult situations, one of which seems to have been resolved rather well, the other of which simply went somewhere else.

If we were not "teaching"...both ourselves and newbies, the response to Project HUNT would have been DOA. It's not. We have trememdous participation, almost 100% of it from those newbies who have troubled themselves enough to RTFM, and now grasp what this GG stuff is all about. Those folks get along just fine...they with us, we with them.

LoF: As one of the "Round Table" guys who jumped on you earlier, I was very glad to see a tempered post from you to the rest of the thread. You're obviously no dummy, and smarts like yours are needed here. Now that you've polished off the tarnish on your people-skills badge, do stick around.
