SUNRISE ENTERTAINMENT INC., PREMIERES 'LIVING LEGENDS OF ROCK & ROLL' AT NATPE UNDER THE AEGIS OF ITS NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2000 1/26/2000 8:44:00 AM
- PRNewswire

NEW YORK, Jan 26, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Sunrise Entertainment Inc., the recently formed subsidiary of BusinessNet Holdings Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: BNHC), is making its premiere appearance at NATPE 2000. Sunrise Entertainment Inc., is the natural evolution of Sunrise Television, a Tennessee Corporation, incorporated in 1991, and acquired by BusinessNet Holdings Corp. on December 31st, 1999. Sunrise Entertainment Inc.'s headline program is the "LIVING LEGENDS OF ROCK & ROLL: LIVE FROM ITCHYCOO PARK." Sunrise Entertainment is also rolling out its extensive library of finished product and projects in development.

Robert Swope, newly named CEO & President of Sunrise Entertainment said, "This is a dynamic time for Sunrise Entertainment and its new affiliation with BNHC. With the launch of our High-definition (HDTV) programming, we are pleased to have the support of this high tech company."

Christopher Toyne, recently appointed COO & Head of Production noted, "The synergies created by this new association position both companies at the forefront of the High-definition acquisition arena."

Sunrise Entertainment's latest introduction to the high-def programming market is "LIVING LEGENDS OF ROCK & ROLL: LIVE FROM ITCHYCOO PARK", the first major Rock & Roll festival to be shot in High-definition television. Packaged as both a 2 hour special with artists' interviews, and as a 90-minute version of music only edited for NHK Enterprises America, for broadcast on NHK Japan.

"LIVING LEGENDS OF ROCK & ROLL" presents many of the great rock and roll acts of the past 30 years. These include: STYX, PAUL RODGERS, MARK FARNER OF GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, IRON BUTTERFLY, JOHN KAY & STEPPENWOLF, THE NELSONS, CHRISTOPHER CROSS, MARSHALL TUCKER BAND, RARE EARTH, FIREFALL, and STARSHIP.

Swope, who directed the 40 hours of high-def coverage, said in the announcement, "This was the single largest high-definition acquisition of rock and roll material in the history of television. This was an historic precedence in the industry insofar as we ran the three image magnification screens in wide screen definition as well. We set the standard for others to follow."

Toyne added that, "with the High-def trucks, and the finest staging and lighting in the U.S., this represented an investment of $30 million ... and it's all right there on the screen."

Sunrise Entertainment is presently developing high-definition programming on the St. Petersburg Philharmonic with Yuri Temirkanov; Chubby Checker: 40 years of the Twist/A Celebration; The Sounds of Hawaii; and 26 editions of LIVE from the Magic Castle."

Sunrise Entertainment's two principals have spent some 50+ combined years in the industry. ROBERT SWOPE has over 20 years experience as a producer and director of major live and recorded entertainment events. He was the producer/director for "Itchycoo Park '99," a thirty-eight act Rock & Roll festival filmed in High Definition TV; produced and directed the "Living Legends of Gospel," series; "A Tribute to Bill Monroe," and the Family Channel series, "The Great Magic of Las Vegas," and "The Moffatts Live at The Orpheum," for Capital/EMI Records. He was Entertainment Director for the NFL Atlanta Falcons, and co-produced the Sugar Bowl, Gator Bowl and Kick-Off Classics for four years. His live telecast producer/director credits include The Family Channel/Odyssey Network broadcasts of "The Christian Country Music Awards," and the ABC telecast of "The Miss South Carolina Pageant." Swope has also produced and directed numerous live and recorded events with acts including, George Junes, Hammer, John Denver, Brooks & Dunn, The Fairfield Four, Fats Domino, Styx and Lou Rawls.

With over 30 years experience as a producer and director, CHRISTOPHER TOYNE has experience in many disciplines of media production and trained at the BBC in both dramatic and multi-camera techniques. He was the Supervising Executive Producer of the PBS Pledge Special, "George Winston - Seasons in Concert," filmed in Hawaii, Montana and Nashville. Toyne produced the dramatic film, "Diana: A Tribute to The People's Princess," depicting the last year in the life of Princess Diana, which recently premiered on the TNT Network. Mr. Toyne has received two Parent's Choice Gold Awards and a Peabody nomination for "The Complete Works of Winnie-the-Pooh."

He also received three Emmy nominations for PBS's Wonderworks series "Frogs," and the CBS series, "Beauty and the Beast." His many other credits as a producer or director include archival and documentary productions for The Royal Navy, Showtime's "Nightmare Classics," Turner Broadcasting's "Dinner at Eight," and live concert events featuring Fleetwood Mac, Engelbert Humperdinck and The Moffatts.
