Dear fuzzymath: My basis in EMC is $26.10 a share and I have been buying on dips regularly but never selling. Thats the difference in the buy and hold stratagy over timing. I think it really works best with these fast growing blue chip techs. Yes, they have their volatility but over all they go UP. Once you get in and stay in eventually your basis gets so low due to splits and all that you have a lot of downside protection eventually. On SUNW my basis is now about $12 a share. Same situation. I suspect EMC will split this year, if they do then my basis gets halfed and if they go back up to 3 digit area I should be sitting pretty. JDN
