The conference call also said that other manufacturers appear to be designing a higher percentage of new phones around QCOM ASICs than was true previously. This is in part because the CDMA carriers are trying to purchase only phones that have 1XRTT and data capabilities, which QCOM ASICS provide. When their networks get upgraded this year, they want capable phones already in place.
