Cory,

Re:""Thats the point! Why would an OEM want to build 600 MHz PIII systems when they can build a 650 MHz Athlon system for less?"

Because corporate America won't buy AMD based systems!!"

Yup, and there's a 300 Billion dollar valuation resting on that premise.

Seems to me there's a lot of AMD work going on with folks like CPQ/Hotrail/API etc to validate 2/4/8 way Athlon systems.

I know you are smart enough to have covered your Intel bet.

Just as Paul has.

I just wonder about the rest of the church of Intel.

regards,

Kash

I don't consider "Corporate America" to be either as monolithic or as unresponsive as you make out to be. Sure the Athlon might sell better in the SOHO section of this "Corporate America" first, but it will make inroads quickly.

Cory,

<Because corporate America won't buy AMD based systems!!>

Probably a more accurate statement is - "top tier OEMs have not used AMD for their commercial systems"

I am betting a lot of bucks that that will change in a quarter or two at most.

Cory Re <<Because corporate America won't buy AMD based systems!!>>

Not yet, but that is changing fast whether you like it or not. Pionex was the first indication. GTW was another. More to come.

And there you have the reason why AMD should continue to expand market share and make the shareholder more money.

Because corporate America won't buy AMD based systems!!

The above is what you posted....because corporate America has not bought Athlon based systems to date, they won't in the future. Unless you are clairvoyent, this your opinion/supposition based on past experience, is it not?

And you don't think it expresses a bias? Think again.
