While it beat estimates by $0.01, it did not beat the whisper number. It should be noted that the number did not include the income from the sale of the hand held unit. This would have boosted the proforma number from $0.27 to about $0.30. This will show up in the next quarter. Regarding the seasonal slowdown in chip orders, one has to remember the time when Intel was phasing from the pentium II to the pentium III and reported that chip sales would be slowed. This was due to retooling and was very short term!!! G3 (generation 3) chips will be on the way, CDMA is going to be the new standard, New generation handheld phones will be a homologous of computer, organizer, phone and personal data device, wallet, etc... (use your imagination). CDMA royalties are up.

The spin meisters will be using this preceived "negative" as an opportunity to pick up stock at bargain basement prices.

Time to go shopping,

David
